Peterlynn expansion

Labelling specialists Peterlynn have expanded their digital capacity, adding a Screen L350UV+ Inkjet printer to their existing Xeikon CX3 toner-based press. This investment came at the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown to help them meet unprecedented demand driven from specific sectors including the brewery and sanitiser markets.

The Screen L350UV+ delivers industry-leading speeds for a digital label system of up to 60 metres per minute, and utilises inkjet-head technology ensuring both outstanding quality and throughput.

Peterlynn’s MD James Lindsay says: “We had been considering expanding our digital offering for some time, as we were eyeing further growth in the Brewery, Chemical and Health and Beauty Industries, but when the COVID crisis hit we actually found demand increasing significantly for our digital department. In the main this was driven by the brewery industry, who had to adapt quickly to move from kegged beer to cans and bottles for consumers to enjoy at home. Additionally, we saw a surge in requirements for cleaning product and hand sanitiser labels too, and we were keen to prioritise these essential supplies to play our part during the crisis. Our customers have always needed a fast turnaround, coupled with reliable service and a quality label product. In order to meet this, we knew we needed to make a significant investment in additional digital capacity.”

When asked about why Peterlynn chose the Screen over a second Xeikon press James explains “Our team were particularly impressed by the vibrancy of colour that can be achieved on the L350UV+ and the density of white print. This, coupled with fast print speeds of 60 metres per minute pushed us towards the Screen solution.” “The Xeikon will remain a critical part of our suite of digital options due to its reliability and importantly because of its toner-based print, which is food-safe for direct contact.”

David Farnsworth, UK & I Sales Manager for Industrial Inkjet at Screen Europe says: “Peterlynn completed a thorough evaluation of the options in the marketplace, including talking extensively to existing SCREEN Truepress users. The team at Peterlynn was reassured of the reliability, uptime, ease-of-use and crucially the colour consistency offered by the Screen L350UV+ and made the decision to purchase.

We knew it was essential to provide a swift response and arrange installation and commissioning, as well as to complete extensive operator training all within a couple of weeks. I know the team are already very impressed with the output, particularly with white print and the colour vibrancy that can be achieved. We are excited to be working with such a forward thinking business as Peterlynn and we look forward to our relationship developing in the coming months.

Peterlynn Sales & Marketing Manager Victoria Waine says “In label printing there is a constant demand for eye catching yet cost-effective ways of creating labels that will ensure a product really stands out on the shelf. In recent months that demand has moved towards bright colours and spot gloss highlights on the label. I am so impressed with some of the initial work we have already been able to produce, and so are our customers. I really feel that the Screen L350UV+ will open up exciting new opportunities for us within a number of key sectors and will allow us to win longer print runs for digital.”

With the Screen L350UV+ and the Xeikon CX3, both served by a suite of AB Graphic’s Digicon finishing lines, as well as Mark Andy 8 colour flexographic capability, Peterlynn has an extensive offering to suit any application or run length. Victoria continues, “Peterlynn has always set ourselves apart in our drive to serve customers large or small with the best and most cost effective production method to suit each project. The Screen L350UV+ is the next piece in the jigsaw for us, and really gives us a full suite of printing solutions to suit all projects.
